Abstract

One of the indicators in determining air quality is looking at the concentration of PM2.5 in an area. PM2.5 concentration can be simulated using the WRF-Chem model. Therefore, this study aims to look at the dispersion of PM2.5 during Rainless Days (June, 13th 2022) and New Year's Holidays (January, 1st 2023) in West Sumatra by using WRF-Chem as a preventive measure if there is a negative impact due to poor air quality. The data used are Final Data Analysis (FNL) and observational data from the Kototabang Hill Atmospheric Monitoring Station. WRF-Chem simulation results on Rainless Days and New Year's Holidays show a similar distribution pattern of PM2.5 concentrations. PM2.5 concentrations in the morning to noon have high concentrations in areas that are sources of PM2.5. However, the attention spread to other sites from the afternoon until late morning. PM2.5 concentrations ranging from 20 – 30 µg/m3 dominate during New Year's Holidays. The WRF-Chem simulation was also validated with observational data, which resulted in a PM2.5 concentration value still below the BMUN (meaning it was safe), and the r, RMSE, and MAE values were 0.48, 4.09, 1.19 (Rainless Days) and 0.56; 10.02; 6.40 (New Years Holiday).
